The BIG Red School House Ribbon Cutting & Open House May 3rd
The BIG Red School House is nearing completion and will be in full operation by May 2019. We will be having our Ribbon Cutting & Open House on May 3rd.
The 12,000-square foot facility includes three large classrooms and approximately 6,000 square feet of open floor space that can be utilized in many different ways. The National RV Training Academy will be utilizing the BIG Red School House as its home base for the many different RV technical training courses available to technicians andconsumers.

Do you have a desire to develop new skills and knowledge so you can service and repair your RV? Have you ever wondered if you could start a new business helping others? There is a high demand across the country for mobile RV service, RV inspections and RV maintenance services in campgrounds. The National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) began its operation in Athens, TXin January 2018. The Academy offers structured curriculum for the RV consumer and professional that is looking to do more. These technical and business classes are designed for you so you can enjoy the RV lifestyle.
Week One - RV Maintenance Course
The basic core for The RV Apprenticeship Technician Program and also the perfect course for the consumer who desires to take care of their RV and possibly go on to become an RVInspector, gain certification through the NRVIA (National RVInspectors Association), or become an RV maintenance tech for campgrounds.
Week Two - Air Conditioners & Heat Pumps
Component Testing of the compressor, capacitors, PTCR(starter relay), overload protector, freeze control thermistor, reversing valve, thermostat and control box, selector switchesand fan motor.
Week Three - RV Absorption Refrigerators
Troubleshooting of temperature controls, heat source operations, along with diagnosing and replacing the rearcooling coil. Proper installation and venting procedures.
Week Four - Water Heaters & Furnaces
Water Heaters: Gas and electric operation, testing of circuit board, thermostat/ECO and electrode. Furnaces: Gas operation, testing of the circuit board, sail switch, high temperature switch, electrode and blower motor.
Week Five – Exterior Systems & Hyrdraulics
Slide Outs: Types/drive systems and override procedures forSchwintek, hydraulic ram, cable, electric screw and gearedmotors. Leveling Systems: Types/drive operation and overrideprocedures for LCI hydraulic and electric. Running Gear:Axles, suspension, and tires. Roofs: Types of roofing materials,repairs, and aftermarket coatings. Sidewalls: Construction types of walls, windows, and doors.
