Our Reputations Are All at Stake

Even though the specific situation that this article is based on happened some years ago, the message here still rings true for today's Workampers.

Abstract:

(This article was written 20 years ago, but is even more accurate for today's times.)

Greg Robus, former Editor of Workamper News, sent this message to all Workampers on May 12, 2003 as a reminder that the actions of one reflect on all of us.

RV Holding Tank Chemicals and Beyond

The following article deals with the chemistry of the currently available holding tank treatments and observations about advertising practices, conceptions and misconceptions by makers of those chemicals.

Three areas will be covered.

Abstract:

Joseph Aiello sent me an e-mail and later an article about RV holding tanks as a result of an exchange about why the dump station in Blythe, CA was temporarily closed in January/February 2005.

Here’s Joseph’s background and reason for compiling his research. "I am a retired pharmacist and for the past three summers have sold Odorlos at Camping World stores. To understand how Odorlos works and how the other chemicals were used in the black holding tanks, I had to learn how sewage is treated at waste treatment plants and then I had to read the labels of my 'competitors' to know how Odorlos stood. My knowledge of chemistry and some Internet research helped to put a scientific basis to the article. All statements are backed by references."

Five Steps to Finding Health Insurance

1. Learn about types of policies and coverage: Read about the different types of coverages. Determine if you might be able to convert your old insurance under COBRA or qualify for a group policy. WARNING: Be very leery of joining an association to get health insurance. In many states they are either unregulated or regulated in a different way. Be sure to thoroughly investigate using resources in Steps 3 and 4.

Abstract:

When people consider traveling and working on the road, one question that often comes up: What about health insurance? For the younger workers, not yet eligible for Medicare, this is a real stumbling block.
